New degree program in business law

As of October 2004, the ZHW School of Management is offering a new degree program in business law, which combines legal and business administration disciplines and focuses on national as well as international aspects.

Why study business law?
Legal issues play a decisive role in practically all business activities: be this in negotiating or completing contracts, protecting the company’s name or brand image, dealing with personnel issues or organizational/ managerial problems; having a sound understanding of business law is a significant advantage.

Bridging the gap
While lawyers frequently lack business acumen, managers tend not to see the potential legal implications of their business decisions. Our degree program in business law bridges the two disciplines, making it an ideal starting point for many management positions.

SoM first to offer business law degree
Zurich University of Applied Sciences’ School of Management (SoM) is the first of its kind in Switzerland to develop a degree program in business law. However, other, foreign universities have already introduced similar degrees with great success. Indeed, German universities of applied sciences have been offering business law programs for the past ten years and academic institutions in other countries, notably in Austria, Sweden, the UK and the US are also introducing it. And as employment figures show, the job prospects of business law graduates continue to be above average.
