Equal opportunites
In 1994, the former Winterthur Polytechnic (TWI), one of the
predecessors of today’s ZHW, became the first of the present
universities of applied sciences to appoint a representative for
equal opportunities issues (Head of the Equal Opportunities Office).
The aim of the equal opportunities work is to ensure real equality
of treatment for both genders at the ZHW, in all areas and official
bodies, and to work towards a balanced professional relationship
between women and men.
The equal opportunities team is responsible for the implementation
of the legal mandate for the equal treatment of women and men (Zurich
Law on the Universities of Applied Sciences §13).
For this purpose, we organize various information and counselling
activities, initiate and supervise projects, such as the Foundation
Course for Women in the Communication Systems and Informatics degree
programme, organize events such as "Technology up close",
and participate actively in various networks.
