My first month is already over and I can definitely say that Hong Kong, especially the University, is quite different than in Switzerland.

Bayard Rustin, a black man travelling alone from Louisville to Nashville in 1942, refused to sit at the back of the bus. He was testing a Supreme Court decision that found segregated travel illegal. He was taken to a local police station and severely beaten. He did not fight back, but kept trying to reason with the men as they worked him over. Finally one of the white passengers interceded for his release. "I believe the nigger’s crazy", said the police chief.

We pick up again the story of "Richard", a research associate at zhaw. As the winter semester ended Richard thought he was starting to control his internet addiction. He was often to be found in the lake or up a mountain. It didn’t last.

Something bad happened. I almost can’t find the words to talk about it. It is serious. It is a disaster of major impact. I am infected…infected with the American virus and I don’t mean that I suddenly like Bush. I have to tell you what happened. Otherwise I’ll turn mad.

It has been six weeks since my return to Switzerland. After having spent three and half months in London, Switzerland seemed meaningless to me with its 7 million inhabitants compared to 12 million people living only in London. However, I really had missed Switzerland. Life here is so quiet and the quality of life is so much higher than in London that I don’t mind not having all the options I had in London. Nevertheless, London has a special place in my heart. The time I had there has changed my life. I had met awesome people and a dream I once had given up has just re-entered my mind. Thus, I am thankful for this life-changing experience. But actually I am going to talk about being back in Switzerland, and a weird flashback I had.

We like to inform you what we did on our last day of our business trip. Due to the fact that a normal day starts around 00.00 o’clock…I start at this time. We just left our restaurant a few minutes ago and are now in a club called Liquid … and this was also the stuff we needed in huge dimensions. I assume almost everybody had the same problem that we once more ate too much and had to transform all this notorious food quickly into motion: shaking, dancing, rocking, jumping was on the program until the early hours – and there was not a single person of our study group missing (accept our driver which was for sure not officially part of our group).

The International Management Class ’06 got up early this morning to start another valuable and salutary day. We got to know Mr. Stephan Braune, a German businessman and member of the "Deutscher Wrischaftsclub Siebenbürgen". He took us to a factory of a firm ( http://www.mondostar.ro/en/index.php ) fabricating suits. We had the possibility to get to see the whole process of this fabrication inclusive talks with a representative of the firm who gave us valuable information and answers to our curious questions.

After the long journey yesterday, about seven hours from Bucharest to Hermannstadt, it was not easy for us to get up early. The “show” had to go on and alarm went off at 7 am to wake us up! We had to be ready and be in the bus by 8 am. The dress code was formal, because we were to attend two important presentations this day and an international conference on environment.

Well, when we got up early this morning nearly no one could imagine what an intense but also exciting day would lay ahead of us. Having finished breakfast and the entire luggage packed the IM class took a seat in their comfortable bus and headed right away to the Academy of Economics. After a warm welcoming and a first socializing with some domestic students the class enjoyed an interesting tour through the, let’s say, antique university. While the class rooms remembered at granny’s anecdotes the student accommodations, which are allocated only to the best scholars, resembled more reformatories. Our tour guide however declared that all the buildings will be renovated within the next 2 to 3 years.

At 8 o’clock we met at Zurich Airport, some were on time, some late, some very late and some didn’t even turn up…. After a quick check-in we had a wonderful flight with a ham or cheese sandwich and arrived safely in Bucuresti. We were welcomed by a very charming Romanian Tour Guide, who introduced us to our bus driver Andrej. He will join us during the whole trip. We then started our guided sightseeing tour through Bucuresti. We saw many astonishing buildings, but what impressed us most were those many fountaines with colorful water, each representing a county (the water in this fountain is actually blue)

Let’s call him "Richard". Like many of us here at zhw he works on a computer. Actually looking into the monitor for at least five hours a day. It emits an unhealthy vibration. It’s bad for his eyes, it’s bad for his spine, and it gives him repetitive strain injury in his mouse hand. He sits motionless for so long that even walking 25m to the bathroom seems like an adventure. But when he gets home he sits right down again. Why? Richard is an internet addict.
